Readro — Privacy Policy

Readro ("the app") is a book tracking application. This policy explains what data the app handles and where it goes. The short version: your data stays on your device, and we don't collect it.

Data we store

Your library, reading sessions, streaks, goals, ratings, notes and scanned Pocket Pages are stored only on your device. Readro has no user accounts, no server of its own, and no access to your data. Deleting the app deletes this data.

Data that leaves your device

• Book searches — your search text or a scanned ISBN is sent to Google Books and Open Library to find book details (title, cover, page count, community rating).
• Pocket Pages (text recognition) — when you scan a book page, the photo is sent to the OCR.space service to be converted to text. The resulting text is stored on your device; per OCR.space's policy, uploads are processed in memory and not retained.
• Read-aloud — when the natural voice is used, the page text is sent to Google's text-to-speech service to generate audio. Device-voice listening happens entirely on your device.

These requests are made directly from your device and are subject to the privacy policies of Google, Open Library (Internet Archive) and OCR.space.

Camera and photo library

The camera is used only to scan book barcodes and to photograph pages you choose. The photo library is accessed only when you pick an image yourself. Readro never scans or uploads your photo library in the background.

What we don't do

No ads, no analytics, no tracking, no selling of data, no profiling. Readro does not knowingly collect data from children; the app collects no personal data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date.
